IMPACT JOURNEY OF A CAPITAL HOLDER

JOHAN’S JOURNEY BEGINS

MAPPING THE JOURNEY WITH WAIC

From the very first conversation, we dive into Johan’s situation. Together, we create his Today profile: who is Johan, what knowledge and experience does he bring, what are his personal values and goals, and what questions and challenges are currently on his mind? This forms the foundation for understanding his starting point and defining the first steps of his Impact Journey.

We discuss his current capital allocation, values, and ambitions, and we also map the dynamics within his team and relevant stakeholders. This gives us a clearer picture of where he stands and where he wants to go. For example, it could be reducing his negative impact, better managing of portfolio risks, or aligning more closely with his personal values.

Based on these insights, we create a tailored roadmap, deciding which “islands” Johan will visit on his adventure. WAIC suggests starting Johan’s journey at Inspiration Island. Additionally, we think Connection Island, Knowledge Island, and possibly Share Your Practice Island could be valuable destinations. The most relevant islands and the order in which they will be visited will become clearer as the journey progresses.

Each island offers something unique, whether it’s inspiration, knowledge, connections, support, or the opportunity to share practical experiences. At the same time, we know that every journey is dynamic: destinations may be removed, revisited, or replaced with new ones as Johan’s insights, questions, and interests evolve.

With our experience, we adjust the roadmap flexibly and are happy to help Johan navigate unexpected twists. Throughout both the highs and the lows of his Impact Journey, we remain by his side, ensuring he continues to move forward and achieve meaningful impact.

INSPIRATION ISLAND

With his roadmap in hand, Johan begins his journey with a visit to Inspiration Island, where he gains fresh ideas and new perspectives:

Impact Safari: Johan visits pioneering projects and meets other Capital Holders who are further along in their Impact Journeys. He is inspired by small-scale agricultural projects that contribute to food security and medical drones serving remote communities.

Impact Expedition: During the Impact Safari, Johan is deeply moved by the testimony of a farmer in Africa. The challenges and creative solutions of this farmer prompt him to think about new ways to put his capital to use. He wants to explore this further and discusses his interest with WAIC. To support him, WAIC organizes a tailored Impact Expedition, where Johan not only meets the farmer in person but also discovers other inspiring initiatives and key players in the region. During the expedition, Johan experiences firsthand what’s happening, meets local stakeholders, and gains deeper insights into the impact of these projects. What started as an interest grows into a true passion. Johan decides to focus on this area and makes it a central part of his journey.

Explorers Club: In an interactive session, Johan shares experiences with peers and learns about successful impact models, such as circular economy projects and regenerative agriculture.

Inspiration Events (like Impact Into Play): Johan meets experts working on innovative educational programs for underprivileged children and leaders of community-led housing initiatives. These sessions help him explore different angles for his own investments and philanthropic activities.

Johan’s backpack is now filled with fresh ideas and new energy. We may return later, but for now, it’s time to move on. It’s clear: Johan now needs tangible steps and knowledge that truly align with his goals. The next logical stop? Knowledge Island!

KNOWLEDGE ISLAND

As Johan gains more clarity about his direction, we help him further develop his strategy. During this phase, his Today profile is enriched with new insights and practical tools:

Impact Scan: An analysis of his existing portfolio shows where he can create more impact. For example, Johan decides to reconsider investments in fossil fuels and focus on sustainable energy and circular projects.

Maturity Scan: This assessment provides insight into the current phase of Johan’s Impact Journey and offers concrete steps for further growth.

The Academy: Johan gains access to the Impact Doing Academy, where he can acquire relevant knowledge at his own pace and level, tailored to his specific learning needs. Based on his experience, availability, and preferences, a custom program is created, which may include a mix of online learning materials and in-person sessions. A personal mentor guides Johan through the process, curates the program, and remains available for support and advice as needed.

Storytelling Support: Together, we work on his story, so he can clearly communicate his vision and goals to his network, including team members and family who may not yet be fully convinced of the value of impact investing.

The strategy and communication methods are becoming clearer, but Johan feels somewhat overwhelmed. WAIC recognizes this feeling – previous explorers have experienced it too. We reassure Johan and suggest he visit Connection Island, a place where he can brainstorm with peers and learn from their challenges, experiences, and successes. We know from experience that this has a calming effect and helps explorers move forward with confidence.

Additionally, WAIC identifies a few other attractions on this island that are a perfect fit for where Johan stands in his journey. We may always return to Knowledge Island later or explore other destinations, but for now, it’s the right moment to head towards Connection Island with a backpack full of strategy and vision.

CONNECTION ISLAND

With a solid foundation, Johan moves forward with implementing his impact strategy. He leverages the power of the WAIC network to strengthen this step:

Philanthropy Circles: Johan joins an exclusive group of like-minded Capital Holders. Together, they reflect on their role as impact investors and refine their vision.

Impactopia: At Impactopia, he immerses himself in a world of tangible innovations and visionary ideas, wandering through interactive exhibits that showcase groundbreaking solutions. As he moves from one display to another, he quickly absorbs new perspectives, discovering unexpected connections between different fields. Each encounter sparks fresh insights, offering him a wealth of inspiration in a short time—fueling new possibilities for his own Impact Journey.

Portfolio Assessment and Investment Selection Guidance: WAIC supports Johan in selecting causes that align with his vision and goals, such as innovative water purification projects and inclusive financial technologies for emerging markets.

Johan feels empowered, excited, and inspired. With the insights and tools he has already gained, he takes meaningful steps toward positive impact. His journey continues, enriched with new knowledge, experience, and a strong network. Johan is proud of his progress and knows he can always rely on WAIC as his guide whenever he needs support on a specific island.

Through ongoing contact, WAIC sees how well Johan is progressing. That’s why we invite him to Share Your Practice Island. Here, Johan has the opportunity to guide others, inspiring them while simultaneously gaining new ideas to further his own journey and replenish his backpack. After all, a true explorer is always hungry for new adventures.

SHARE YOUR PRACTICE ISLAND

Once Johan has achieved his initial impact goals, he is invited to Share Your Practice Island to become part of the collective as a “fly-in” for other peers. This provides him with a platform to share his experiences and stay engaged with new initiatives:

Companionship Sessions: Personal reflection sessions help Johan evaluate his impact journey and explore new possibilities.

Networking Events and Thematic Gatherings: Johan remains connected to the WAIC ecosystem, allowing him to stay inspired, explore new paths, and continue meeting like-minded individuals.

His Tomorrow profile, expanded with new expertise, connections, and discoveries, becomes the foundation for his next adventure. With WAIC, Johan continues to grow and contribute to a broader movement for sustainable change.
