Jan Leyssens

Jan is a strategic innovation expert with deep expertise in circular business models and sustainable design. With a background in industrial design, he has always been fascinated by the design process itself, helping individuals and organizations navigate complex sustainability challenges and turn uncertainty into action.

Throughout his career, Jan has worked at the intersection of design and entrepreneurship, circular economy and social innovation, always starting from strategic design and business model innovation. He has advised governments on sustainability decisions, contributed to launching (inter)national circular economy initiatives, and co-founded a strategic innovation agency that has guided over 200 businesses towards more sustainable business models. His approach is hands-on, emphasizing experimentation over theory to help companies explore, prototype, and implement real-world solutions.

Currently, Jan develops tools and structured frameworks that help organizations assess their readiness for circular transformation, and he is looking at AI as a technology to accelerate impact. Whether through coaching, acceleration programs, or innovation tools, his mission is to equip as many people as possible with the skills and mindset for a sustainable future. He also works on tools that help businesses identify circular opportunities, making sustainable transitions more practical and scalable.

Beyond consulting, Jan is a passionate educator and storyteller. Through the book series Marvelous but true (Wonderwaar), he introduces children to science, technology, and curiosity in an engaging way. Based on that series, he also developed a theater show called Jan & de Wonderwaar Band, and is launching science experiment boxes, inspiring the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.
